The purpose of NRPS is to preserve the heritage and history of Newport and its environs, enhance Newport's future and community spirit and to fulfill and carryout the intents and purposes of the will of Katherine L. Beard. The will states "the Louise Beard Memorial Building be used as a community center, where clubs, societies, committees and organizations, dedicated to public or semi-public purpose may hold meetings, where public libraries and collections of articles of historical importance may be housed, and where public meetings of limited size and non-political and non-sectarian nature may be held, all tending to the material, moral, intellectual and aesthetic welfare of the community of Newport."

NRPS is a 501(c) 3,voluntary organization of individuals and businesses who have joined together to enhance the commercial, financial, industrial, civic and aesthetic interests of the Newport community

Newport Revitalization Inc. (NRI) was registered as a non-profit corporation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. NRI was incorporated in 1992. In June 2002 NRI merged with Louise Beard Memorial and the organization became the Newport Revitalization & Preservation Society, Inc (NRPS). The merger provides many advantages and resources to both organizations.

A voluntary Board of Directors, elected by the membership at the Annual Meeting in June, runs NRPS. The board meets every 4th Monday of the month at the Louise Beard Memorial Building. All members are welcomed!
