The purpose of NRPS is to preserve the heritage and history of Newport and its environs, enhance Newport's future and community spirit and to fulfill and carryout the intents and purposes of the will of Katherine L. Beard. The will states "the Louise Beard Memorial Building be used as a community center, where clubs, societies, committees and organizations, dedicated to public or semi-public purpose may hold meetings, where public libraries and collections of articles of historical importance may be housed, and where public meetings of limited size and non-political and non-sectarian nature may be held, all tending to the material, moral, intellectual and aesthetic welfare of the community of Newport."
NRPS is a 501(c) 3,voluntary organization of individuals and businesses
who have joined together to enhance the commercial, financial,
industrial, civic and aesthetic interests of the Newport community
Newport Revitalization Inc. (NRI) was registered as a non-profit
corporation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. NRI was incorporated in
1992. In June 2002 NRI merged with Louise Beard Memorial and
the organization became the Newport Revitalization & Preservation
Society, Inc (NRPS). The merger provides many advantages and resources
to both organizations.
A
voluntary Board of Directors, elected by the membership at the Annual
Meeting in June, runs NRPS. The board meets every 4th Monday of the
month at the Louise Beard Memorial Building. All members are welcomed!
