NEWS FLASH

The boat “Willie and Walter”, that was sunk above town with a load of ore,  last week,  was relieved of  its load and towed down to Wilson’s boat yard, where it  was  placed  on  dry  dock  for repairs,  the Captain,  Moses  Kingston, attempted  to  lead   his  mules  over  a temporary  plank  walk  which covers a break  in  the  lower  dock,  when   the animal  slipped  and   fell  off  the   walk down over the embankment,  a distance of some fifteen feet to the bed of Buffalo Creek. The animal was evidently used to such  knocks,  as  it  presently  made its appearance  on  the bank again unaided. Besides  some  slight  flesh  wounds, the mule was not injured, but was ready  for work  when  the  boat was ready to sail. 25 June, 1886
