It was a beautiful day..sunny and warm. The square was filled with vendors and craftmen. The aroma of homemade soup, hamburgers, baked good, soft pretzels...filled the air. The day started with "Special Friends" performing. Followed was the dedication of the Susan Connell plaque. The "Special Friends" was back with Elvis. At 1 o'clock the Newport Highschool marching band came up 2nd Street followed by the cheerleaders and football team. A pep rally was held in the square.
