Howe, Jacob A, Thomas B. Lizzie Howe Steel and Laua Howe Wright.

Perry Co. 1814; buried in Freeland’s Graveyard, Howe Twp.) and Susanna Shoop Howe (born in Germany 1761, died in Howe Twp. 1825. She was married to Wm Howe in Penna. But no dates. She is buried in Freeland’s Graveyard) William Howe II was born in Warrington Twp., York Co.1789. Died in Howe Twp in 1860. Buried in Old Graveyard, Newport. William II came with his parents to present Howe Twp and lived on a tract of land called “Paradise”, which his father bought. William Howe II lived in the home occupied by his father. Schoool built on his land known as “Howe’s Scool”. He had a saw mill. Early M.E. church services held in Howe’s School. He was school director, Buffalo Twp. 1835; school director, Oliver Twp 1839; president school board, Oliver Twp. 1843. Howe Twp named for him. He married Catherine Yingst of Cumberland Co. 1817

Photograph-Eve Smith Leiby…It was in this home (Samuel and Eve Smith Leiby) that Katherine Libey Howe (Beard) lived for the first 16 years of her life, and the gracious hospitality of her grandparents so endeared them to her that she cherished articles belonging to them, and in this way many of these museum exhibits were preserved

Catharine Yingst Howe, wife of William Howe II to whom she married April 25, 1817. Born 1795 in Cumberland Co; died 1852 in Howe Twp; buried in Old Graveyard, Newport. Catharine Yingst Howe contracted erysipelas while helping to “lay out” the deceased child of a neighbor, and this caused her death. There are no pictures of her.
