Son of Frederick and Margaret Lambert Leiby. Extensive landowner, businessman and farmer. Western traveler. First storekeeper in Newport 1832. First burgess of Newport 1840. An incorporator of the Perry Co. Mutual Fire Insurance Co. 1843. He boarded the first train that passed through Newport and rode to Millerstown. Member of the Reformed Church.

Merchant in Marysville for many years. Postmaster, Marysville, 1893. Member Marysville Town Council. Perry Co. Historical Society, Newport Masonic Lodge and Past Master of the same. Member Reformed Church. Married first to Elizabeth Schools, and 2nd to Mrs. Mary Hartman. Died 1924 in Marysville and buried in Newport Cemetery. Was a collector of Indian relics and a great lover of American Indian lore.

When Mrs. Bowers realized 13 had assembled for the picture, she flatly refused to join the group. The day was saved however by Miss Salome Lenker, who happened to be passing by the dtudio at the time. Although not a member of the class she obligingly consented to make the 14th.

Merchant in Newport for many years until his death. Member Town Council, Newport Outing Club, and Newport Blue Lodge (Masons). Died at Newport 1915 and buried in Newport Cemetery.

Photograph- Susanna Howe Humes born 1818 in Howe Twp. Perry Co. was the daughter of William and Catharine Yingst Howe. Died 1901 and buried in Harrisburg Cemetery. Married George F. Humes. Children Amanda, Lid Humes McCormick, Laura Humes Heilman, and Mary. Much interesred in civic affairs and reforms. When few women took interest in voting she, in 1894, went to the polls in Chicago to vote on a public school question. Interested in geneolical work, and family data which the Howes of this branch now have was compiled by her. Was a telegraph operator in Harrisburg. Lived in Mifflintown, Harrisburg, New Castle, Franklin Pa and Chicago
