Of course we remember Alvin Fosselman Jr.!! He and his wife, Mary have lived at 6300 Creek Road since the 1950s. We know their children: Alvin III and Art. How about their ancestors?
Alvin
N. Fosselman, Jr., 81, of Markelsville, died November 6, 2003 in Holy Spirit
Hospital. He
was born December 7, 1921 in Markelsville, in the farm house that he lived in
all of his life, to the late Alvin and Ruth (Shoemaker) Fosselman, Sr. Alvin was
a life-long member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Markelsville.
Alvin’s
focus throughout his life was on his family, his farm, his church and his
community, to which he brought his wife, Mary (Christmas) Fosselman on March 11,
1944. Alvin
retired from farming, his occupation for over 40 years, and from the Perry
County Tax Assessment Office.
Alvin enjoyed hunting throughout his life, and he and Mary enjoyed
traveling in their retirement.
Alvin and Mary’s farm has remained the center of their family’s
lives, including:
· Their son, Alvin III (Doc), his wife, Gail (Stone) Fosselman, and their children, Alvin IV (Al) and Elaine Lindsay and her husband, Branden
·
Their daughter, Frances Roggenbaum, and her husband, Roger.
· Their son, Arthur, and his best friend and companion, Cathy Bower.

TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTH REGIMENT, PERRY COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA The two hundredth and eighth regiment organized at Camp Curtin, Harrisbrug Pa. the 12 Sep 1864. On the 27th of Nov it joined the Army of the Potomac and was assigned to the First Brigade, Third Division of the Ninth Corps under the command of General Hartranft. On the 25th of March helped capture Fort Steadman. From the 27 Mar to 2 Apr were constantly moving, till the assult on Petersburg at which 48 were killed or wounded. On the ninth of April arrived at Nottoway Court house where they remained till the 20th. At Alexandria the 208 were mustered out of service. Company G - Perry Co.
