Joseph W. HOWANSTINE (1826-1910) married Catharine Beistlein (1828-?) 0n 31 January 1856. They had three children, who all died young:

 

William J. (1858-1869) died two months short of his eleventh birthday.

Calistia M. (1862-1866) died at the age of four.

Francis S. (1867-1882) died three months before his fifteenth birthday.

Mary C. was probably the sister/sister-in-law of Joseph Howanstine. She probably took Catharine spot in the cemetery. Who knows where Catharine went? She is not buried in St. John's.

 

Josiah W. Howanstine would have been the same age as Fancis S. Howanstine. Could he have been a nephew who came to live with Joseph? Could he have been a son of Mary's? Was Margaret his wife or sister?

 

Anyway that's the Howanstine family at St. John's Cemetery!
