Tressler

The first Tressler ancestors in Perry County were Johann Andreas (Dressler) Tressler and his son with the same name. Both were born in  Wurtemberg, Germany and settled in Loysville, Perry Co., PA. Apparently Johann and his wife Anna Barbara Bernhart came from Germany some time after young Johann was born.

Johann Andreas (DRESSLER) TRESSLER [Jr] (1747-1828) In 1768 he married Mary Margaret (Ley) LOY, who was born 1744 in Berks Co.,PA. Johann died in Loysville and is buried in Lebanon Lutheran Churchyard, Loysville, Perry Co., PA. Johann and Mary had one son, John Jacob, born 1770. Mary died 1784. Johann then remarried Catherine Hamman b.1763. They had eleven children between 1785 and 1801. They lived in Berks Co., then Kutztown, PA and finally Loysville, Perry Co. PA. David T. Tressler was born 1794 in Berks co. PA.  Johan Andeas Tressler died 1828 and is buried in Lebanon Lutheran Churchyard, Loysville, Perry Co., PA.

David T. TRESSLER (1794-1862) David married Mary Catharine BERNHEISEL b: 22 MAR 1794 and they lived in Perry County. David was a farmer and died 1862,  buried in Lebanon Church Burial Ground, Tyrone Twp., Perry Co., PA. David and Mary Catharine Tressler had twelve children. John T. Tressler was their first born in 1816. Their 3rd child was John, born 1824. What do you do with two boys named "John"? -big John and little John.  Their twelveth child was Sara Jane. She died in 1852. Now John T. had already married left home, leaving ten children living at home. Below is the death notice as filed:

Andrew Tressler. Mother: Catharine Hamilton. Occupation:
Farmer. Born: 23 Mar 1794, Berks Co. Greenwich Twp. PA. Wife: Catharine Bernheisel. Living Issue: Catharine, John, Samuel, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Susanna, David, Wm, Andew, Geo. Sarah Jane. Died: 16 Dec 1852, Inflamation of the lungs, Centre Twp. Perry Co. PA. Buried: Lebanon Church Burial Ground, Tyrone Twp. Perry, PA. Person returning certifiacate: John Tressler, brother of dec. Tyrone Twp. Perry, PA. Date of Certificate: 30 Dec 1852."
John T. TRESSLER (1816-1899) in 1836 John T. married Maria "Mary" DUNN (1818-1859).  John T. was a Lutheran and a farmer. After his marriage John located in Center Twp. (then Toboyne), Jackson and finally Juniata Twp., Perry Co. where he died. John and Mary had ten children:

  5. Has Children Rebecca Jane TRESSLER b: 26 MAR 1847 in Tyrone Twp. Perry Co., PA
  6. Has Children William Frederick TRESSLER b: 8 OCT 1849 in Juniata Twp., Perry Co., PA. m. Melissa Benner
  7. Has No Children Abraham D. TRESSLER b: 28 APR 1852 in Perry Co., PA
  8. Has Children Sarah Alice TRESSLER b: 29 OCT 1854
  9. Has Children John Bernheisel TRESSLER b: 21 NOV 1856 in Markelville, Perry Co, PA, d. 1896
  10. Has Children Jacob Dillard TRESSLER b: 8 MAR 1859 in Juniata Twp., Perry Co., PA Farmer and Merchant

After "Mary" died in 1859 John T. remarried Rebecca TITZEL in 1862. They had two babies, born 1863 and 1864. Apparently both died as infants. Rebecca died in 1864, probably from child birth complications.

John T. Tressler remarried again to Nancy Roup. John was probably in his fifties. John T. died 1899 at the age of 83 and is buried in  Wila (or Milford), Perry Co., PA.
