Originally the Spotts residence and housed over the years - Noll's Restaurant and Sam Zuckerman's Clothing stor & once a cigar store. Today it is the offices of Daniel Hengst DMD Click for more detail.28 & 26 N 2nd St- Abraham Demaree The house on the corner of the alley above the warehouse was built by About this time the first warehouse was built by Abraham Demaree [Kough warehouse] on Water [Front] Street. A house on the corner of the alley above the warehouse was built by Abraham Demaree which was later enlarged and used as Demaree's home and general store. Bitting's Restaurant- built sometime after 1875. The little building next door was the Just for Fun Travel. It has been said that this building once sold fresh produce. CLICK FOR MORE.. Hotel-The original brick building was built in 1831. After being destroyed in fire in 1856 Jesse Gantt replaced the hotel. In 1874 again fire destroyed it. Mr. Gantt again rebuilt it. Butz Building -Demaree built the Butz Building in 1855. Renovation began in 1999. June 2000, the building was opened as the Newport Square Apartment Building and it became the offices and Gallery of Perry County Council of the Arts (PCCA). Sharar's Grocery -There has been a small store  since the mid 1800's.  In 1979, the Sharar family bought the business. Since then Sharars has served Newport with many deli items plus the latest videos. CLICK FOR MORE DETAILS23 S 2nd- Original Italian Pizza- The pizza parlor was formerly William "Bill" Showers Radio Service, Lincoln "Vinegar" Smith General Store and William "Bill" Shade - Restaurant and fresh oysters.29 & 31 S 2nd - Insurance & Newport Health Food- 27 S 2nd - The site of Reamer/Varner blacksmith shop in the late 1700s and early 1800s. It was later torn down and replaced by bricklayer Henry Myers.

The Jewel Box - Once a free standing building before the Bank & Myers Building were built. It has been a Jewelry Store since 1897 COMP'S Barber shop -Alton Comp was a barber in Newport for many years. CenntinialBldg-Patriot News, Expresso Yourself, Clippers&Apartments. Centennial Building - Built in the 1800s by Philip Bosserman Today it houses six apartments upstairs and retail stores on the street level. House was built in 186028S. 2nd Street - this once was other half of Western Auto, and earlier the site R.W. Davis, Tinner & Stoves, and a Chinese laundry. In 1995 it was the Davco Paint store. Today it is the offices of Continuing CareSteckley's Pet Center, 32 S. 2nd, previously housed the town's movie theatre, the Western Auto, Steven's butcher shop and earlier, Adam Bortel Boot and Shoe Manufacture.
