Buriak Building, 24 N 2nd Street - The large building, at the northeast corner is the Buriak Building. The building was built by Dr. Miller and his brother, George Miller. This building was originally the Spotts residence and housed over the years - Noll's Restaurant and Sam Zuckerman's Clothing store. It was once a cigar store. During the Fire of 1874 this building saved the town from burning. David Spotts used the building as a store room. The building was insulated with long runners of rugs which were soaked with water and suspended from the top of the roof. In the 1900's it was Zuckerman's Department Store. Today it is owned by Dr. Roger L. Buriak DMD, who renovated the building about 1985. Today it is the offices of Daniel Hengst DMD. It was the first building to be restored on the square. To the east, bordering Front Street was the coal yard of Alvin Jones.
