COMP'S BARBER SHOP - Alton Comp was a barber in Newport for many years. He was a representa- tive of State capital Savings. In the small room in back Bank customers would bring in their deposit Friday & Staurday. Mr. Comp would mark the books and take home a cigar box full of money, then take home a cigar box full of money. On Mondays he took the account to the main office. He moonlighted this job by having his wife keep his evening appointments while he traveld around Perry County to pick up monies for deposit. Today, Larry Comp is the propietor and barber.
